you could do better

Recently my friend and fellow photographer, Big John, pulled me aside to show me some logo designs he's been devising for me. As I looked them over I asked him if he had been to my site to get an idea of my style, etc. He looked at me and said yes he had, and then appearing rather uncomfortable, he began to say something about the picture of me on my site, and then stopped himself. I asked him to continue and this is what he said, "I don't know, I think you could do better."

I was a bit surprised since I had received praise for this image when I first published my site, and then upon further reflection realized it was mostly women who liked it and the small amount of criticism I received was from men. Much to my surprise bashful John then told me I looked "hot" at my photography show, and that I needed an image to reveal more of what he saw that night.

So I'm going to ask you to give me your feedback on this matter. Do you think I need to change my image on my site to reflect something other than what's there? Yea or nea? I realize it's personal preference, and ultimately up to me, but I would like your opinion.

I think it looks warm, inviting, and very pretty. But maybe it's because I'm a girl.

I think it looks perfectly fine for who you are selling to and what you are doing. could it look hotter? sure, you are beautiful, but I don't think that will get you any more of the business you are after. unless dads are booking the sessions, then maybe there woud be an uptick in biz.

just my $00.02 USD.

As a woman who is constantly questioning my own beauty, I would certainly welcome others' input when it comes to scrutinizing photos of me; I am wondering if I might feel a tad inhibited to have a 'hot chick' on the other side of the lense as a potential client trying to put my best face forward. Donno, I find the natural photo of you more inviting. Why not add some 'hot' pics of yourself and others on your site to appease a broader client base (yah, "men").

Thanks so much for your thoughts and kind words everyone, it's much appreciated and validating. So the image stays! Yipee, 'cause ya know I don't like getting my picture taken!
